In an effort to answer the age old question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, I started a business! Well… let me back up and share some life status with most of you. I got laid off. Everyone calm down…. It’s actually a good thing. No a great thing. It couldn’t have come at a better point in my life. Raising twins is no small feat and it’s also a fantastically amazing blessing that I enjoy immensely. So being laid off with a severance package that affords me a little time to spend with my babies, was just what the Doctor ordered. It also came at a time that I found myself burned out on Corporate America. What? Burned out? How? How could working 50-60 hours/week for someone else burn you out, you ask. Well, after focusing all of my energies for the last 11 years on working in senior leadership at a top Fortune 500, driving innovation and launching huge national campaigns, part of me wanted to see what else I was good at and try something new. I still may go back, but for now, this is what I'm doing. The good news was that I got this bug when I was still pregnant – 30 weeks pregnant, and by the time I was 36 weeks pregnant, I’d worked with vendors and suppliers to create my vision and laid the groundwork to bring my company to life. I did take about 2 months off to focus on the twins, but then got right back to it to finish what I started. I created Tala Baby® – a baby clothing line that speaks positivity, morals and values into the lives of our children and helps you to Create Beautiful, Teachable Moments with your little ones. And now, I’m ready to share my proverbial “baby” with all of you.

If you’ve gone to my site, www.TalaBaby.com and read the About Us section, then you know what my clothing line is all about and how it was inspired. If you haven’t read it, you may want to. Click here to read more… I’ll wait!

What’s crazy, is the divine timing of being laid off, having the boys and being inspired to start this line, all at the same time. God gave me the time, the reason and the inspiration at precisely the right moments. I think that’s why I’m so excited about this. I’m also excited about it, because those of you I’ve shared this with are excited for me, so thank you for the encouragement.

Now…..my expertise is in food….so clothing production is foreign to me. But I’m enjoying the journey and learning a lot along the way. From photo shoots with babies, to structuring a small business.... it's all been an incredible ride. I look forward to seeing our friends' babies wearing our clothes, but I equally look forward to your feedback! I can't wait to see what Tala Baby can become!

This blog will serve as a place for me to share my perspective on all things mommyhood, babies, our business and more. I may even figure out what I want to be when I grow up, so please add me to your reading list and follow us on our social channels to stay up to date. We can be found on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest @TalaBabyCo
